It's been an insane week here :) I have lots of new projects under way and hopefully will have some of them finished within the week and maybe some pics :) Been working on getting Ariane's cool weather stuff made - crocheting mittens, hats, scarves and making her a wee cloak, a coat and some clothes, as well as some for myself and a new coat and cloak for me :) and a few new clothes for my husband too - lots of stuff. We are harvesting tomatoes, green beans, carrots, beets, tons of herbs and getting ready to do fall plantings of peas, carrots, beets, greens, broccoli raab, and other stuff :) the blackberries are taking their time to ripen, but they look plentiful!! I got out a bit too late for getting enough raspberries and blueberries to make jam buuuuuut, we have lots of other stuff coming nicely! My elecampane needs dividing and I am hoping the divine Ms. Heather might take some off my hands (hint!)...This is going to be a super busy fall!!! Got a huge batch of whole grain bread started for tomorrow's Lughnasadh HVPN event and I am going to be making some pretty braided loaves as well as some swirly herbed rolls out of that. And possibly some apple turnovers with the gorgeous apples I just got from one of our neighbors :) Tomorrow is also some clergy business ;) so that's a bit involved. I am already planning our Equinox Thanksgiving (we celebrate our Thanksgiving at the Equinox - for us, that is the most appropriate time) . So it's been all around busy here. I hope everyone is having a beautiful weekend!! I also hope to have something up on the philosophy group - I beg patience with that!!
Russia lost more than a literary great. As he was called, "Russia's conscience" wrote with great courage and integrity, using his art to the fullest to bring a picture of his Russia both to his own countrypeople and the rest of the world. He suffered for his truth and gave others reason to defy.
Just found a really interesting site that I am finding really useful for exploring color and design - www.colourlovers.com It's another of those community sites... but very interesting in what you can do with colors and patterns. I have been finding it inspiring and practical! It is sloooowwwww, but if you have a cable internet connection (we have high speed satellite, which is much faster than dial up but not as fast as cable), it shouldn't be too bad - might be a pain on dial up. Anyway, I know lots of us here are artistic and we love our colors and such....enjoy. I am there under Niamh :)
Other than that, have a beautiful weekend! Lots to do here, but I am hoping to do a bit of posting :) Also, am doing healing dance, as always on Saturday night, if you need anything. :)
Out walking yesterday, my brother met me on the road with the sad news that one of our beloved Percherons, Jewel died sometime the night before. He wasn't sure exactly what happened. She did have a few minor breathing issues. but was otherwise okay. She will be missed! She was generally a friendly, though shy horse and her partner, Pearlie was the more outgoing one. I do know Pearlie will miss her - those two were very tight partners!! A small quiet rite to bless her passage to the land of the Ever Young was last night's business, and I have the distinct feeling she will be happy there...;)
The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.
The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.
